BOTTOM LINE = Issuing and enforcing MANDATES creates an environment rich with opportunities for lawsuits.

WAKE UP ILLINOIS!

 The 2nd Amendment is gone in IL, you will not have the right to bear arms if you were to move here, and many law abiding residents are currently being denied those same rights. We have an ID card here in IL, not a license, an ID card called a FOID (Firearm Owner ID Card). A FOID is necessary to possess a firearm in this State, not purchase or carry a gun, but to simply have a firearm of any type for any reason, and currently, the FOID card is not available. If a FOID is applied for, the applicant may not receive it within a year. Meanwhile, firearm possession is illegal, even in your own home. You would become a criminal if you were to obtain anything deemed a “weapon” under the FOID Act. This includes certain types of BB guns and knives, stun guns, even a civil war musket is illegal without a FOID. An otherwise law abiding citizen can be arrested, charged with a felony and their property seized if they need a FOID to possess it. The FOID delays have been ongoing since early 2019 and although COVID did not help matters, it is NOT the reason. The real reason is the massive amount of firearm regulation, much of which is pure bureaucracy and contradicts itself, but simply cannot be financed or managed by an already bankrupt State.

All of this leads to complete, and utter failure of the IGA (IL General Assembly), as our representatives, they are ultimately responsible, and should have addressed this long ago, instead, they actually piled on more legislation and currently have over a hundred “gun bills” sitting in Springfield. To be clear, The IGA had over 70 days in session in over a calendar year prior to COVID, that they knew about, and ignored, a violation of the very Constitution they are sworn to uphold

I cannot recall this ever happening in this Country. The fact that a State Government has stripped its citizen’s right to bear arms, for no apparent reason, other than they have completely failed as a Government, is astonishing. What’s more astonishing, is over the last 20 or so Months, especially Months before COVID, somebody, anybody in office, would have said something like “hey, this is illegal”. Any member of the IL General Assembly who has claimed to support the 2nd Amendment, has failed miserably. Any member of the IL General Assembly that claimed gun laws would not strip your Constitutional rights, has lied successfully.

This is not a party issue, it is a Constitutional issue. The right to bear arms has been taken away, if we do not vote to preserve the 2nd Amendment, the rights taken will not be given back. Every member of the IGA should be explaining themselves or looking for another job period!
